The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department now serves as a permanent site for prescription pill drug disposal. The program is called P2D2 and is a partnership with the Illinois Sheriff’s Association says Mercer County Sheriff Dave Staley.
Staley says they can accept prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and even meds for pets. Syringes and other sharps, inhalers, thermometers and medications from businesses and clinics cannot be accepted.
