Mercer County Farmers Average 231.3 Bushels Per Acre For Corn; 64.7 For Soybeans In 2018

2018 proved to be a strong production year for Mercer County corn and soybean producers.  According to data from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Mercer County corn farmers averaged 231.3 bushels per acre last year with soybean farmers averaging 64.7 bushels per acre.  Statewide was a good year as well says Illinois state statistician Mark Schleusener.

140,000 acres of corn were harvested in Mercer County in 2018 with total production at 32,383,000 bushels. And 104,500 acres of soybeans were planted in Mercer County last year with total production at 6,763,000 acres.
