Yvonne “Vonnie” Hutchins, 88 of Aledo, died Friday, January 12, 2024, at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Visitation is 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 19, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private family services and burial will be held. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry. Vonnie was born on December 21, 1935, in rural Hamlet, Illinois, to Lee and Eva (Crook) Lemon. She received her education from Aledo schools and graduated in 1954. She married Ronald Hutchins on October 17, 1954, in Joy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2018.
Vonnie worked at Stuts Drug Store in high school and later was employed by Northside Middle School as head cook for 35 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. Vonnie enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and with her family.
Survivors include a brother, Tom (Sandy) Lemon of Covington, Indiana; son, David (Juvy) Hutchins of Aledo; daughter, Julie (Doug) Drake of Aledo; four grandchildren, Kyle, Sierra, Jonas, and Nora; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; brothers, Danny and Lonnie Lemon; and a sister, Connie Lemon.
