The City of Aledo has yet to release a statement on the status of Police Chief and City Administrator Chris Sullivan. That will likely be coming Wednesday, according to Mayor Chris Hagloch. He has been in conversations with the city attorney. Sullivan was arrested Monday on Class A misdemeanor battery and Class 3 felony official misconduct charges.
According to an Illinois State Police press release, in June 2021, ISP agents initiated an investigation after an allegation of a battery having been allegedly committed by Sullivan, in his capacity as the Aledo Police Department, Chief of Police while conducting an arrest. The release states during the complete investigation, ISP investigators gathered evidence in support of arrest.
The Mercer County State’s Attorney’s Office requested a Special Prosecutor for the case, and the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office was appointed.
Sullivan’s bond was set at $10,000, 10-percent to apply. He surrendered himself to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon and posted bond. No additional information will be released by ISP.
