One person has died following a one vehicle crash near New Boston. The fatal mishap occurred late Thursday morning at Cottage Road and 45th Street, according to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release. The driver was transported to Genesis Medical Center Aledo, where they were later pronounced dead. The name of the deceased has been released by Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson. She is identified as 85-year-old Janet L Bryant of Illinois City. A passenger was transported by MedForce to an area hospital for treatment. Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies were also assisted at the scene by New Boston Ambulance, New Boston Fire, and Genesis Ambulance.
