Every second mattered as the Orion Chargers scored late in their game against Newman. Orion went in for six to come within one point of tying the game in the fourth quarter. The Chargers attempt at a two-point conversion was no good and Newman took the win 13-12.
The Golden Eagles hit a major milestone Friday night winning 600 games since 1910. Mercer County beat United 28 to 0. A high school football historian gathered the data on Mercer County combining both the current team and the former Aledo Green Dragons.
The Golden Eagles and Red Storm had numerous penalties until a touchdown put Mercer County on the board. Three more touchdowns by Mercer County would round out the win.
