The Mercer County Jail continues to house a steady stream of foreign inmates. Most are from the U.S. Marshals Service, but inmates are also from county jails in Cook and Warren in Illinois and Scott in Iowa says Sheriff Dusty Terrill. He details the financial impact.
The sheriff’s dept. receives $65 per day per inmate from the U.S. Marshals Service; $55 from Scott; $50 from Cook; and $43 per day per inmate from Warren County.
Currently the jail is housing 37 foreign inmates and 20 local inmates. The capacity is 103 beds.
