Local State Rep. Dan Swanson on board with the industrial hemp movement in Illinois. He was one of the original sponsors of the legislation in the Illinois House and he tells WRMJ that there is some past history with industrial hemp in Western Illinois dating back to World War II.
The Illinois Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications to grow and process industrial hemp. The application fee is $100 and then a grower or processor license is $375 for one year, $700 for two and $1,000 for three years. You can apply at agriculture.il.gov.
